Aol needs to lay off 1,400 more people. Back in November 2009, AOL had announced that it needed to downsize by 2,500 employees. After asking for volunteers to be laid off with separation packages, 1,100 people offered to leave which now leaves the remaining 1,400 to be let go. That means that AOL has to move on to their second phase of involuntary layoffs on an international level with the most number of layoffs taking place in the U.S.
The plan also includes shutting down offices in Europe as well as focusing on the company’s overall strategy and structure. With these changes being made, the company hopes to improve their current situation.
